Nellie Gray Cregger Obituary

Nellie Gray Cregger, age 78 of Tazewell, VA passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital with her daughter by her side. Born August 5, 1943 at Tazewell, VA she was a daughter of the late John Will and Mary Lambert Asbury. Nellie was a faithful member of Thompson Valley Church of God since 1966 where she taught Sunday School for thirty some years, had served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary, and also served as church custodian. She was faithful to those she loved and was a loving mother and homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Ross Cregger and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Cregger and fiancé, Richard Jarvis of Cedar Bluff, VA; Nellie's grandson who was the light of her life, Dakota Ryan Cregger; foster son, James Albert Asbury of Radford, VA; foster granddaughters, Mae Ann, Samantha, and Lisa; special nieces, Anna Gail Carter of Louisa, VA and Nellie Stilwell of Tazewell, VA; special nephews, Daniel Fields of Louisa, VA and Mike Roark of Tazewell, VA; many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM. Wednesday with Pastor Kelvin Seabolt officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, VA. Pallbearers will be Dakota Ryan Cregger, Richard Jarvis, Mike Roark, David Dubbs, Mike Harman, Joe Lewis, Barry Richardson, Randy Kiser, Larry "Howdy" Dowdy, and Jay Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Michael McMeel, Chris White, Mike Sheets, and members of Thompson Valley Church of God Church.
