He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Prevento and Augustina Onogoramo Prevento; his wife Thelma Jackson; his children, Joy Delgrande and Melvin Prevento Jr.; and his grandchildren, Jimmy Riggs and Bucky Bunting.
He is survived by: his daughter Glenna Hale; and his brother Eugene Prevento of Lynchburg, VA.. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
