It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Vernie Walters of Tazewell, Virginia, who passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Vivian and Emma Catherine Carter Walters; his son James B. Walters; and his siblings, Roy, Kenneth, George, Bill, Alma, Edna and Alice.

He is survived by: his wife Breta Juanita Walters; his son Tony Randell Walters; his pet Dennis Wayne Walters of Cedar Bluff, VA; his grandchildren, Shannon Marie, Jason, Kelly Ann, Richard, Natasha and Jessee; his half-brother Bobby Proffitt; and also Roger Houchins of Thompson Valley.
