Doak IV and Myrtle Moody Doak; his grandparent Tazewell Pioneers; his great-grandparent Dr. James Doak II; his great-great-grandparent William Thompson; his grandparents, Reese Edwin Doak, Sara Elizabeth Spence Doak (Sallie) of Smyth, Tazewell Counties, George Moody and Mattie Blaylock Moody of McDowell County, WV; and his brothers, Prentiss D. Doak and George W. Doak.
He is survived by: his close friends, Don Dunford and Al Gillespie; his wife Joan Williams Doak; his son James R. Doak VI (Jamey) of Tazewell, VA; his niece Susan Doak Smith; his nephew Brian Doak; his cousins, Richard Moody, Jimmy, Charles, David, Miles Lucas and Martha Lucas Neil; and his siblings-in-law, Frieda W. Boughton and Kent B. Williams.
