He was predeceased by: his parents, Reese David Puckett and Amanda Biddie Caudill Puckett; and his son Hugh Puckett, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Shirley W. Puckett; his son Donnie R. Puckett (Kim) of Roanoke, VA; his daughter-in-law Donna Puckett of Tazewell, VA; his brother Paul Puckett (Deloris) of Falls Church, VA; his grandchildren, Ryan Puckett, Jake Puckett and Erin Martin; and his great grandchildren, Ryan Puckett, Jr., Kaylee Jo Puckett and Anna Grace Puckett. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
