He was predeceased by: his father Fred Eugene Gillespie, Sr.; and his brothers-in-law, Doug Cleaver and Mike Monk. He is survived by: his pet Harley; his mother Louise Gillespie of Tazewell, VA; his siblings, Rick Gillespie (Polly), Kim Cleaver, Lisa Gillespie Hagy (Anthony) and Donna Monk; and his nieces and nephews, Jason Snapp, Matthew Cleaver, Cody Gillespie, Jessica Gillespie, Brittany Nolley, Taylor Monk, Caitlin Franks and Jenni Beavers.
