He was predeceased by: his parents, Stevenson Calloway Mitchem and Lennie Jane Mitchem; his son Steve Mitchem; and his siblings, John Mitchem, Ronald Mitchem and Judy Mitchem.
He is survived by: his wife Dixie Griffith Mitchem; his son Donnie Mitchem (Angie); his daughter-in-law Sonya; his grandchildren, Stevie Mitchem (Jessica), Josh Mitchem (Allea), Donnie Mitchem (Bubby), Johna Mitchem, LeeAnn Matney (Brandon) and Taylor Baker (Cole); his great grandchildren, Skylar, Brooks Mitchem, Kylee, Jake, Kove Mitchem, Noah Mitchem and Colton Baker; his siblings, Danny Mitchem of Chattanooga, TN and Pam Akers of Welch, WV.; and also, Raymond, Patsy Walker, Johnny and Linda Griffith.
