She was predeceased by: her husband William H. Sylva; and her son Gary D. Sylva. She is survived by: her daughter Donna Sanders (Gary); her daughter-in-law Debbie Sylva; and her grandchildren, Chris Sylva, Kelly Ricks (Chad), Brooke Sanders, Brock Sanders (Morgan) and Michelle Hence (Delvin). She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 5141 Dunbrooke Road, Tappahannock, Virginia, 22560.
