He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Hess and Ida Stevens Hess; his wife Maedean Hess; his sons, Kyle Hess, Jr. and Garry Hess; his son-in-law Wayne Ratliff; and his siblings, Jettie Dye, Renia Perkins, Venia Hubbard, Ruth Hubbard, Albert Hess, Carl Hess, Jack Hess, Clarence Hess and Dingus Hess.
He is survived by: his children, Darrell Hess (Vickie) of Blackford, Diana Richardson (Avery "Sandy") of Richlands and Lisha Hart; and his sisters, Mavis Hubbard and Goldie Dye. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
