She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Baskerville Carter, Jr. of Swoope; her parents, Ernest Duane Fortney, Sr. and Agnes Marie Fortney (Davis); and her siblings, Ernest D. "Junior" Fortney, Jr., JoEtta Hemp and Betty Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Mildred Ann Davis (Kiger) of Staunton, Patricia Elaine "Patty" Lohrey (Marty) of Raphine, Angela Dawn Leach (Ray) of Fishersville and Shearon June Humphreys (Tommy) of Craigsville; her grandchildren, Troy (Melody), Brandy (Ben), Joe, Candi (John), Cody (Jillian) and Nikki (Jacob); her great grandchildren, Haley, Chloe, Noah, Sam, Ian, Carter, Ashby and Reid; and her cousins, Alice Wilkerson and Don Davis.
