Elton M. Hewitt Jr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elton M. Hewitt Jr. of Swoope, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 28, 2024 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elton Massie Hewitt, Sr. and Ruby Hewitt (Harris); and his siblings, Jean Wise, Eloise Moore and Clay Hewitt.
He is survived by: his nephews, Neal, Dennis and Jerry Hewitt; his children, David Hewitt (Laura Lee) of Swoope, Susan Piche (Claude) of Roanoke and Polly Hewitt of Swoope; his grandsons, Jeff Hewitt and Brad Hewitt (Tiffany); his stepgranddaughter Kim Piche Montgomery; his sister Evie Kay Pyne of Staunton; and his close friends, Deborah (Gayhart), Bill Warren, Sandy (Wood) and Rick Burton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hebron Presbyterian Church (423 Hebron Rd, Staunton, VA 24401). A reception was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, (423 Hebron Road, Staunton, VA 24401) and the Parkinson's Foundation (5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126).
