He was predeceased by: his parent Charles Cabaniss; his wife Mary Ann Thomas Cairnes; and his son Clarence J. "Butch" Cairnes. He is survived by: his parent Emma Westmoreland Cairnes; his daughters, Shirley Cairnes Underhill (Jimmy) of Sutherland, Virginia Meyers and Carolyn Cairnes Meyers (Bill) of Henrico; his grandsons, Chris Underhill, Chad Underhill and Nicholas Cairnes; his great grandchildren, Ethan Underhill, Parker Underhill, Mary Underhill, Anabelle Underhill, Abbie Underhill, Elena Cairnes and Harper Cairnes; his sister Alma Anderson; and his niece Anita Meeks. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
