It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willie J. Butler Jr. of Surry, Virginia, who passed away on December 17, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Joseph Butler, Sr. and Alice Henderson Butler of Surry, VA.; his siblings, Corteiz Blizzard, Lucy Hines (Roy), Eva Hammond (Ray) and Naomi Butler; and his granddaughter Alexandra Jasmine Butler Lomax.

He is survived by: his wife Lucy Carolyn Butler; his children, Alice Jeanette (Butler), Willie Joseph Butler, Ill, Samuel Durand Butler (Michelle), Virginia Branch and Ben Branch; and his grandchildren, Kareen Naji Lomax, Latresha Lane, Samuel Durand Butler, Jr., Shamar D'Andre Butler, Christopher Charles Remy, Sanai Danae Butler, Elexus Chamberliss, Travis Chamberliss and Jenaya Branch Harrison.
