He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Mitchell and Susie Mitchell; his wife Shirley Mitchell; and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Samuel and Thelma Samuel.

He is survived by: his son Kenneth Mitchell (Kristee); his granddaughter Tamee Railey (Benjamin); his great grandchild Danee Railey; his nieces, Karen Belcher (Keith) and Shelby Johnson (Shawn); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brandon, Chris Belcher, Valerie Daniels (Patrick) and Amanda Warren (Wesley); and also, Owen, Nolan Daniels and Levi Warren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wakefield United Methodist Church Preschool.
