She was predeceased by: her parent James Leroy Gillespie; and her sister Heather Chappell. She is survived by: her mother Teresa "Tee" Gillespie; her brother Mark Gillespie; her niece Leigh Ann Davis; her great-niece Laekyn Davis; her great-nephew Taelyn Davis; and her brother-in-law Bruce Chappell.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
