He was predeceased by: his father Lester Hawks; his wife Shirley Hawks Hawks; his daughter Lisa Hawks; his son-in-law Clifton Miller; his grandson Chris Williams; and his siblings, Ella Jones, Lillian Holt, Jack Hawks, Warren Hawks, Thurmond Hawks and Mack Hawks.
He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Miller, Pat Hiatt, Gail (Terry Hawks), Pamela Hawks, Kathy Sawyers, Charlie Lee Hawks, Jr. and David (April Hawks); his brother Johnny Hawks; and his sisters-in-law, Patsy Collins and Jessie Eaton. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.
