He was predeceased by: his parents, Cora Gertrude (Slider) and Arthur Sherman Gilliland; his sister-in-law Serena Miller; his grandson Michael McGuire; and his siblings, George, Richard, Walter Gilliland and Dorothea Gilliland.
He is survived by: his pets, Mindy and Sassy; his children, Julie, Art, Shirley Gilliland McGuire (Edwin) of Sugar Grove, WV, Juliet Gilliland Hammond (Brandon Hunter) of Dennison, TX and Arthur Gilliland (Lisa) of Olsburg, KS; his siblings, David Gilliland of Clearwater, FL, Carolyn Imbt (Jack) of Troy, PA and Eleanor Werkheiser (Gilliland) of Gillette, PA; his grandchildren, Eddie McGuire of West Virginia and Rachel Fischer (Will); and his great grandchildren, William of North Carolina, Cora of North Carolina, Delia of North Carolina, Cale of North Carolina, Floyd of North Carolina, Serena of North Carolina, Margaret Fischer of North Carolina, John Gilliland of California, Megan McGuire of West Virginia, Niki (Gilliland), Harley of Kansas, Laney of Kansas, Padrick McGuire of West Virginia, Juliet Gilliland of Kansas, Ian McGuire of West Virginia, Holly Hammond of Texas and Bradlee Hammond of Texas.
