It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia M. Rodgers Gwaltney (Suffolk, Virginia), who passed away on March 8, 2019, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Clifton Lee Gwaltney, Sr; her children, Clifton Lee Gwaltney, Jr, Kathleen Beale (Robert), Veronica Gwaltney-Hughes (Darrell), Devieta Moore (Bishop Darin Moore) and Barron Dwight Gwaltney; her sisters, Pearl Butts (Calvin) of Fayetteville and Vivian Simpkins of Suffolk; and her siblings-in-law, Joan Wilson (Astor) of Hampton, VA, Betty Jean Green of North Caroline, Barbara Shuler of Arizona and Roy Clark of Franklin, VA. She was also cherished by Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, extended grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
