He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Caton Johnson Young and Ray C. Johnson, Sr.; his wife Patricia Tibbs Johnson; his sister Earla Johnson Wiseman; and his granddaughter Victoria Anne Dail.

He is survived by: his children, Troy C. Johnson (Terri) of Suffolk and Amy J. Dail (Michael); his grandchildren, Kyle Honeycutt (Morgan), Haley Norfolk (Michael), Kelsey Honeycutt and Lucas Johnson; his sister Cora Ann Johnson (Virginia) of Franklin; and his nephew Edward G. Stephenson of Ellicott City, Maryland.. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
