She was predeceased by: her parents, Orie E. Avery and Anna V. Avery; and her adoptive parent McDonald Slade. She is survived by: her husband Harry P. Gutelius; her daughters, Harriett G. Bunch (David) and Michelle G. Mizelle (Phil); and her grandchildren, Kristin Lukeman, Jessica Nikles, Heather Rawls, Holly McCaffery, Madison Hart, Dalton Bunch and Zoe Bunch. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the R. W. Baker & Company Funeral Home and Crematory (5685 Lee Farm Ln, Suffolk, VA 23434). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Nansemond River Baptist Church (2896 Bridge Rd, Suffolk, VA 23435).
