He was predeceased by: his parents, Hercules Byrum and Katherine Godfrey Byrum; his stepmother Gracie Bundy Howell Byrum; his sisters, Emerald Thessin and Kay Councill; and his stepbrother R. A. Howell.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Hurdle Byrum; his daughters, Christine Byrum and Catherine Byrum Runion (Kevin); his grandson Alex Runion; his siblings, Wayne Byrum (Kaye) and Fay Allen; his stepsisters, Joan Russell (Frank), Rita Lane (Roger) and Dette Buck (Joe); and his sister-in-law Joyce H. Trump. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. A reception was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Suffolk Christian Church (216 N Main St, Suffolk, VA 23434).
