He was predeceased by: his wife Susan Simons Barnes; and his sister Patricia "Teeny" Silas. He is survived by: his brother Gordon Barnes, Sr. (Mary Ellen); and his stepchildren, Joe Milburn, III (Lisa) and Melissa Milburn. He is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.
