He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lester Stripling and Mary New Stripling; his wife Carol C. Stripling; his son James Stripling, III; his grandson James Thomas Stripling; and his siblings, Pat Smith and Mike Stripling.
He is survived by: his son Jason Stripling (Robin); his grandchildren, Jacob Stripling, Victoria Stripling, Alex Stripling and Elizabeth Stripling; his stepgrandchildren, Chelsey Stonecipher and Ashley Hammer; his sister Peggy Baggett (Arthur); his sister-in-law Ruth Stripling; and his pet Easy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
