She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ashley Ellis and Dorothy Elizabeth Butler Ellis; her son Carl Ellis Strickland; and her siblings, Thomas Turner, Jr., Vivian Griggs and Brenda Boyce.
She is survived by: her husband Harvey Franklin Tew II; her son Carlton Britt Strickland, Jr.; her stepdaughter Christina Elizabeth Glover; her grandchildren, Jacob, Reagan, Ondrea and Kendra; and her siblings, Evelyn Whitehead, Wanda Rountree (Steve) and David Lee Turner. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
