He was predeceased by: his parents, W. Melvin Smith and Annie Sue Smith; and his brother Melvin Smith, Jr. (late Leola). He is survived by: his wife Glenda Bradshaw Smith; his nieces, Arlene Smith and Lisa S. Tarkington (Steve); and his cousin Judy. He is also survived by children and a grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Liberty Spring Christian Church, 4213 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
