He was predeceased by: his parents, Beverly Ashe and Marie Colander Ashe; his daughter Patricia; his adoptive son Tyrone Copeland; his siblings, Thomas, Lonnie, Vernon, Catherine, Christine, Rosalee and Laura; and his sister-in-law Helen Ingram.
He is survived by: his wife Josie Elizabeth Ash; his children, Evelyn Hunter (Raynor), Carlton Ashe, Vernettia Gibbs (Rufus), Clarence Ash (Beatrice), Carlia Williams and Gregory Ash (Donna); his adoptive son Derik M. Adams; and his siblings-in-law, Alphonsa Saunders, Leon Saunders, Gene Ingram, Marjorie Saunders and Pecolia Saunders. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
