We are sad to announce that on February 16, 2025, at the age of 89, Benjamin Franklin Nelson Jr. (Suffolk, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin Nelson, Sr. and Harriett Elizabeth Cartwright Nelson; and his wife Iris Spruill Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Benjamin Franklin Nelson, III (Jennifer), Robin Elizabeth Conroy (late James J.) and Thomas Charles Nelson; his sister Minnie O'Neal; his grandchildren, Shannon, Sean, Sarah, Emily and Thomas Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Aurora, John and Iris.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Bennetts Creek Chapel (2690 Bridge Rd, Suffolk, VA 23435). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery (5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the family would appreciate trees planted in Benjamin's memory.
