He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Bowman and Ruth Hanger (Meek); and his grandson Bryan Alexander. He is survived by: his children, John Edward Hanger, II (Arlene) of Crimora, Deborah Alexander (Clarence) of Fishersville, Cecelia Chott (Tim) of Cary and Tamra Poorman (Dave) of Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, John Christopher Alexander (Renee), Joshua Cody Alexander (Bethany), Cassie Hanger, David John Poorman, II (Jess) and Neil Edward Chott; and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Diehl, Ann Diehl and Suzy. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
