He was predeceased by: his parents, Sammy Lawson and Lubie Woods Lawson; and his siblings, Charlie Lawson, Margaret Holt, Helen Hylton and Bertha Campbell.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Flippin Lawson; his children, Rufus Dean Lawson (Judy) of Stuart, Tammy Harris (Thomas) of Stuart and Randy Lawson (Regina) of Patrick Springs; his grandchildren, Brooklyn Martin (Todd Gunter), Allyson Kenyon (Hunter), Cody Lawson (Hannah Tucker) and Madison Lawson; and his sisters, Carlene Hylton of Stuart, Linda Hughes (Donnie) of Stuart, Alice Hooker of Stuart, Mary Overby of South Carolina and Nina Hylton (Phillip Earles) of Fieldale. He is also survived by his family dearly and was good to his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (202 W Blue Ridge St, Stuart, VA 24171). A graveside service was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Snow Creek Primitive Baptist Church (4606 NC-8, Danbury, NC 27022).
