She was predeceased by: her father James Randolph Mitchell, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Lynanne L. Newman (Danny) of Martinsville and Joel J. Lindsey (Elisabeth Bergman) of Decatur, Georgia; her grandchildren, Eric Hollandsworth, Alyssa Hollandsworth, Kelsey Newman, Samuel and Charles Lindsey; her brother James "Jimmy" R. Mitchell, Jr. (Mary Lee) of Stuart; and her nephew Whitt Mitchell of Stuart. She is also survived by cat, Shadow; and many dear cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wilderness Society or Water for South Sudan.
