She was predeceased by: her father John Franklin Handy; her husband Raymond Layman; and her siblings, Nannie Dee Handy, John Abe Handy (Lonie), Fred Dudley Handy (Vesta), Noel Jasper Handy (Velma) and Samuel Raymond Handy.
She is survived by: her children, Shelby Turner (Junior), Mildred Layman, Dee Dee Parrish and Kathy Tompkins; her grandchildren, Pam Stafford (Mark), Amy Parrish, Katrina Tompkins, Tyler Tompkins, Kenneth Hopkins and Michael Hopkins (Deborah); her great grandchildren, Amber Lilly (Zack), Austin Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Sydney Hopkins, Ashley Roberson, Riley Roberson (Christin), Abby Sharpe and Lizzy Sharpe; her great great grandchildren, Ava Mae Lilly, Jada Lilly, Camden Roberson and Magnolia Roberson; her close friend Denise Hopkins; and her caregivers, Brandy, Bailey and N. As. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Gideon's International for the evangelistic work they do in supplying Bibles and physical ministry; a Gideon display will be available at the funeral to assist with donations.
