He was predeceased by: his parents, Ella Green Crowder McDaniel and Charlie Bernard McDaniel; and his siblings, Rebecca McDaniel Bryant, Ruth McDaniel Phelps, Raymond McDaniel and Charlie "C. J." McDaniel.
He is survived by: his wife Mabel Newcomb McDaniel; and his children, Frank Harris McDaniel (Kay) of Danville, VA, Nathan Conway McDaniel (Betty) of Ringgold, VA and Joyce Ann Gaither (Wayne) of Danville, VA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
