He was predeceased by: his parents, McKinley Herald and Ellen Titta Dean; his wife Shirlee Cole Dean; his daughter Deborah Ann Dean; and his siblings, Herald Anthony Dean and Rheta Karen Dean Penick.
He is survived by: his children, Henry "Hank" Dean (Doris) of Strasburg, VA, Timothy Alan "Tim" Dean (Christi) of Woodstock, VA, Lori Ann Brown of Strasburg, VA and Jodi Alaine Pryor (David) of Strasburg, VA; and his grandchildren, Jason Dean, Shannon Dean Brake (Justin), Natalee Dean Mapp, Kara Dean Keller (Brandon), Kalee Dean Ford (Joseph), Tad Dean, McKinley Dean, Christopher Norton, Logan Pryor, Evan Pryor and Raegan Pryor. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
