He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred J. Funkhouser and Sarah Keckley Funkhouser; his wife Ruth Louise Day Funkhouser; and his sister Betty Fry. He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Funkhouser (Jackie) of Toms Brook, VA, Daryl Funkhouser (Debbie) of Toms Brook, VA, Ricky Funkhouser (Beverly) of Strasburg, VA, Christopher Funkhouser (Katrina) of Strasburg, VA and Sharon Racey (Jeff) of Toms Brook, VA; and his siblings, Alvin Funkhouser (Millie) of Strasburg, VA and Peggy Bauserman (Donald) of Toms Brook, VA. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Columbia Furnace Church (20910 Senedo Rd, Edinburg, VA 22824). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
