He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Edward and Anna Alberta McDonald Hamman; his former wife Mary Hamman (Hockman); his daughters, Judy White and Joyce Orndorff; his grandson Dale Jonathan "DJ" White; and his siblings, George "Buck" McDonald, Grayson Hamman Sr., Benjamin Hamman, Jill Hamman Hebb and Pansy Hamman Darr.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Smith Hamman of Strasburg, VA; his daughters, Janice Holsinger (Greg) and Jeanette Dooley (Frank); his son-in-law Dale White; his stepson Matthew Miles (Jenna); his grandchildren, Dana White, Ricky Holsinger, Jennifer DiMarco, Sara Gimple, Christopher Dooley and Timothy Orndorff; his stepgrandsons, Lawson Miles and Reid Miles; and his siblings, Ruth Hamman Miller, Roland Hamman and Gene Hamman. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
