He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Blanche Kitchen Mitchell; his granddaughter Bess Terry; and his siblings, Edward, Charles Lee and Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Hope Harrison Mitchell; and his daughters, Vernona M. Smith (John), Evelyn R. Mitchell, Janet M. Reames (Mel) and Betsy M. Smith (Joe). He is also survived by nine grandchildren (four spouses), nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
