With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ernest Sargent of Stephenson, Virginia, born in Bunker Hill, West Virginia, who passed away on September 24, 2021 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Sargent and Mamie Sargent; and his siblings, Lucille Burroughs, Charles and Harry Kackley.

He is survived by: his friend Ronald Bowman; his children, Ernest Benny Lee (Mary), Brenda Lee, Ricky Lee (Lisa) and Robert Lee; his sister Peggy Kerns (Donald) of Capon Bridge, WV; his grandchildren, Donald (Stephanie), Jeffrey, John Robert, Alex and Courtney Dawn; and his great grandchildren, Shania and Colton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Frederick County Sheriff's Department or Blue Ridge Hospice.

“Benny Lee Sargent Sr,Pam and Princess will always love you,and I'm the one that live with Benny and took care of him,his 4 kids never came around,out of 30 years I only seen his 4 kids 6 times,never sent birthday card or Christmas card or father day card,and at his viewing I only seen one kid there was the daughter,kids are mad because he didn't leave them anything,that is why they didn't put my name in the paper,Benny had me,Joe Ron & Shirley Bowman and his friends,”

“Pam, this is Donald Sargent. I’m Benny’s oldest grandchild. I respected my grandfather so I don’t want to sully his name. However, what him and his kids relationships were are their business. Things were complicated and my dad and his siblings had bad childhoods. To be honest, my grandfather was absent in my dads life, and mostly in mine but in knew he loved me. He never sent cards or anything on birthdays, and called once or twice. That’s okay, I still treated him with respect and loved him.”
