He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Rankin and Shirley Rankin; his wife Brenda Sours; his son Kevin Alan Rankin of Amissville, VA; his stepsons, Edward Clayton McKee of Winchester, Richard Vaughn McKee of Winchester and Philip Allen McKee of Winchester; his siblings, Beverley Alspaugh of Colonial Beach, VA, Alice Knicely of Warrenton and Alvin Rankin of Bealton, VA; his granddaughter Jessica; his stepgrandchildren, Savannah, Isabella, Kendall, Bailey, Patrick, Andrew and Emily; and his great grandchild Abby.
