John Wilhelm wrote a sympathy message

“"On my occasional visits to Millwood as a member of Project HOPE's international staff and later when I was based in Millwood (1987-1990), it was always a pleasure for me to see and interact with Burt. He was interested in what was happening in my activities at Project HOPE and was never too busy to be helpful in a myriad of ways, Burt took great pride in his work with outstanding results. Many aspects of his life remain an inspiration to me." John Wilhelm, M.D.”

Cary Kimble wrote a sympathy message

“I worked with Burt for 25 years at Project HOPE and never stopped learning for him. His knowledge of the history of the Carter Hall property in Millwood was encyclopedic. More important, he was kind, generous, compassionate, and thoroughly decent to everyone he met. I don't know of anyone who was more respected or beloved at Project HOPE, and he will be missed deeply by those who knew him. With love and admiration, Cary Kimble - Project HOPE 1990-2015.”
