He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Mitchell and Lucille Mitchell (Jeannette); and his siblings, Charles Mitchell and Betty Fisher. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Estelle Hunt; his children, Steven Douglas Mitchell (Ami), James Arthur Mitchell (Coco) and Mary "Ginny" Beard (Richard, III) of Virginia; his grandchildren, Jennifer Russo (Brian), James Mitchell (April), Stephanie Crisp (Jason), Daniel Mitchell, Richard Beard IV, James W. Mitchell and Louise Beard; his great grandchildren, Ella Crisp, Wyatt Crisp, Matthew Russo, Maxwell Mitchell and Luke Mitchell; and his brother Richard Mitchell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
