He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Aston "Ackie" Loyd, Jr. and Ida Elizabeth "Betty" Loyd (Vaught). He is survived by: his wife Sharon Loyd; his stepchildren, Bill Brannock and Vicky Cook; his sister Carol Childress (Frank); his nephew Kevin Childress; and his niece Katie Childress.
