He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Patterson (Charles III) and Ceseli Howdyshell; his brother Harold Howdyshell; his grandchildren, Willie Michael (Kris), Bly Shank (Derick) and Rory Howdyshell (Megan); and his great grandchildren, Tristan Michael, Kinze Michael, Charleigh Shank and Graham Shank.

Memorial donations may be made to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund (334 Mount Tabor Road, Staunton, VA 24401).
