Cody M. Kratzer Obituary

Cody Michael Kratzer, 31, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023 at his residence in Staunton. He was born on February 21, 1992, in Harrisonburg. He graduated from Spottswood High School in Penn Laird in 2010. Cody was a dedicated security guard at McKee Foods in Stuarts Draft. Although Cody's career played a large role in his life, it was merely one facet of his vibrant personality. His hobbies and interests reflected his passions and brought him immense joy. Cody had a deep love for his family and friends, cherishing the time spent with them. He was a gun and knife enthusiast, finding fascination in their craftsmanship and history. In addition to this unique hobby, Cody found enjoyment in video games, sci-fi movies, and books. These mediums allowed him to explore new worlds and broaden his imagination. Faith played an essential part in Cody's life journey as well. As an involved member of Grottoes United Methodist Church, he discovered comfort and peace through Bible studies. His sincere love for the Lord radiated through his life. Cody's loved ones are mourning the loss of a remarkable individual who touched their lives profoundly. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Left to cherish Cody's memory are his father and step-mother, Wallace "Wally" Arthur and Ellen Delane Fisher Kratzer of McGaheysville; his step-father and mother, Michael Patrick and Dawn Michele Smith Quinn of Virginia Beach; his paternal grandparents, Wallace Lee and Susan Ester Page Kratzer; his sister, Michelle Kratzer of Crozet; his step-brother, Justin Campbell and his wife, Ashley, and their daughter, Avery of Middlebrook; his step-sister, Tabitha McDorman and her husband, B.J., and their son, Gavin of Broadway; his step-grandmother, Virginia Fay Fridley Fisher; his maternal step-grandparents, Leo Vernon and Sara Marie Quinn of Ellicott City, MD; his paternal uncle, Karl Ellis Kratzer of Elkton, his maternal uncle, Stacey Kenyon Smith of Verona; his paternal cousin, Kile Knome Kratzer of Elkton; his maternal cousin, Lydia Rose Smith of Verona; his maternal great-uncles, Samuel Coleman Fitzgerald of Grottoes, Benjamin Franklin Fitzgerald, and Amos Arnold Fitzgerald, both of Weyers Cave.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Smith and his step-grandfather, Vastine Jack Fisher, I. Cody's life will be celebrated during a memorial service on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Grottoes United Methodist Church with the Reverend Lori Valentine officiating and Pastor Samuel Plymale co-officiating.

It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Grottoes United Methodist Church (300 4th Street, Grottoes, VA 24441).

In this time of grief, Cody's loved ones find solace in the memories they shared with him. He will forever be remembered for his dedication to his work, his profound love for his family and friends, his unique hobbies, and his faith in the Lord.
