Beverley A. Folk Obituary

STAUNTON – Beverley Ann (Cash) Folk, 78, wife of John "J. C." Folk of Staunton, died Friday (February 3, 2023) at Augusta Health.

Born November 18, 1944 in Greenville, she was a daughter of Frank Giles Cash and Helen Catherine (Whitesell) Cash. Beverley graduated from Wilson Memorial High School and completed LPN training through the Valley Vocational-Technical Center, and returned to school to earn her RN degree at Blue Ridge Community College. She loved nursing – she was dedicated to her long-running professional role at Western State Hospital, King's Daughters' Hospital, and Augusta Health. She also used her nursing skills extensively outside of the workplace, especially within her family and in her role as "mom" to countless baseball players for over 50 years. She was very active in her children's athletic pursuits, and equally passionate about her grandchildren's activities. Beverley was also a long-time member of the women's bowling league at Staunton Lanes. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

Beverley was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, infant Michael Cash, Frank Giles Cash Jr., and Michael Wade Cash; and a dear great-granddaughter, Maiya Nicole Reed.

Surviving in addition to her beloved husband of nearly 60 years are four children, Eddie Folk (Bobbi) of Churchville, Olivia deVore (Randy Nuckoles) of Staunton, Henley Folk (Heather) of Botetourt, and Aaron Folk (Sarah) of Staunton; a sister, Nancy Staton of Churchville; fifteen grandchildren, Christina Reed (Matt), Tawny Folk, Cheyenne Folk, Jerod Folk (Kate), Dakota deVore (Maya), Montana deVore, Jeda Swaine (Dustin), Maia Folk, Ella Folk, Sara Folk, Poppy Folk, Cora Mae Folk, Kiki Folk, Jaxon Folk and Kellen Folk; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Reed, Symphony deVore, and Dré and Zola Swaine.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8 in Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Bobby Campbell. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Folk, Henley Folk, Aaron Folk, Dakota deVore, Jerod Folk, Jaxon Folk, Kellen Folk, and Stephen Huffman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry and Darin Hevener, Chris Brown, and members of the Calvary Ladies' Sunday school class.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's' Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
