She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Gayle and Rosalie Marie Bourne (Jones); her husband John William McDowell, Jr.; and her son-in-law Mark Jeffery Larson. She is survived by: her children, Diane Larson, Karen List (Robert) and John McDowell, III (Stacy); her grandchildren, Jeffery Larson (Samantha), Matthew Larson (Mary), Candace Larson, Rosalie List, Natalie List and Jessica McCrory (Chase); her stepgranddaughter Ryann Spainhour; and her great grandchildren, Temperance Larson, Adelaide Larson, Kate Larson, Kade McCrory and Kannon McCrory.
