He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Cooper and Lucy Cooper; his siblings, Thurman Cooper, Sr. and Maxie Burch; and his sister-in-law Eleanor Cooper.

He is survived by: his wife Lilly Cooper; his children, Vicki Gross (Phil) and Jeff Cooper (Jenn); his grandsons, David Gross, Dustin Gross (Alicia), Jeremy Cooper and Joshua Cooper; his great grandchildren, Abigail Gross, Suellen Gross and Aubree Gross; his siblings, Shirley Woody, Ermel Boyce (Sid), Josie Woody (Donald), Jean Cooper (Jennifer), Ernie Cooper (Drema) and Troy Cooper; and his brother-in-law Jerry Street (Betty). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
