She was predeceased by: her husband Lenwood Groves; her parents, Norman May and Charlotte May; and her brother David May. She is survived by: her sons, Barry Q. Groves of Stafford and Darrell O. Groves (Scottie) of Wilkesboro, NC; her sister Marie Sullivan of Fredericksburg; her granddaughter Samantha Bowers (Derek) of Wilkesboro, NC; her great grandchildren, Hoyt Bowers of Wilkesboro, NC, Christian Shaffer of Wilkesboro, NC, Caroline Gowan of Wilkesboro, NC and Ryleigh Gowan of Wilkesboro, NC; and her niece Tara McMillan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to White Oak Volunteer Rescue Squad (535 White Oak Road, Falmouth, VA 22405) or to any charity of the donor's choice.
