Short Pettaway of Surry, VA.; her husband Leroy Gholston; her children, Carolyn Louise Pettaway and Deacon Antione Edward Gholston, Sr.; and her siblings, David Harris, Clarence Pettaway, Aretha Mae Smith, Bernice Charity, Endia Jones, Annie Mae Gilchrist and Coetlee Easter.
She is survived by: her children, Clyde J. Gholston of Surry, VA, Wayne D. Gholston Sr. (Linda) of Spring Grove, VA, Laneil D. Gholston, Sr. of Spring Grove, VA, Anthony L. Gholston Sr. (Tia) of Chesapeake, VA and Lenora V. Gholston of Spring Grove, VA; her siblings, William Pettaway Jr. of Hopewell, VA, Emma Hargraves of Spring Grove, VA and Mary Evans of Disputanta, VA; her adoptive son Dwight King of Chesterfield, VA.; and her friends, Marlena Pulley and Alice. She is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
