He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Bates Murden; his parents, Robert P. Murden and Annie Lawhorne Murden; his son Robert Murden, Jr. (Melody) of Spout Spring; his sister Frances Cheatham; and his nephew Robert Stuart Cheatham.
He is survived by: his sons, Randall Lee Murden of Lynchburg and Richard P. Keeler (Connie) of Lynchburg; his brother-in-law William Richard Cheatham of Spout Spring; his nieces, Vicky C. Phelps (Richard, Jr.) of Gladstone and Susan C. Cheatham of Spout Spring; and his nephew Ray T. Cheatham (Debbie) of Spout Spring. He is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
