She was predeceased by: her husband Edwin Herbert "Cubby" Carter; her parents, Lula Phelps and Jesse Edward Ferguson; and her siblings, Carroll Ferguson, Maxine Sharp and JoAnn Beverly.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kim Carter of Raleigh, NC and Tammy Richardson (Terry) of Spout Spring; her brother William C. Ferguson (BeeBee) of Lynchburg; her sisters-in-law, Sylvia Ferguson of Monroe and Dale Jones of Appomattox; her granddaughters, Lauren Marshall (Tyler) of Appomattox and Lindsey Richardson (Drew Mann) of Appomattox; her great grandchild Miles Hunter Marshall; and her niece Cheryl Harvey (Donald).
